Enrichment Program

Friday Enrichment is a program that provides Enlightium Prep Program students with weekly opportunities to meet with Enlightium teachers for elective course instruction, hands-on learning, engagement, and social interaction. Sessions include subjects such as Bible, World Language (Spanish or Russian), Keyboarding, Fine Arts, Music, Makerspace Projects, and Physical Education, as well as seasonal sports (subject to availability) for middle school students: soccer, volleyball, basketball, and country club (co-ed).

Meet Up
Students meet in person on scheduled Fridays with certified Enlightium instructors and other Enlightium students in the same grade level.
Dig Deep
Dig into the assigned curriculum with support from certified instructors and peers.
Participate
Participate in local seasonal sports and field trips.
Invest Time
Invest time in fun and interesting projects related to the curriculum.
Study the Bible
Explore the Bible with devotionals most weeks of the school year.
Have Fun
Have fun learning about various drawing and art techniques and participating in STEM activities.
Eligibility
Friday Enrichment is open to:
- Current Enlightium students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
- The enrollment fee is waived for students already enrolled with Enlightium Academy or Enlightium Prep.
- Homeschooled students who are not enrolled in Enlightium Academy or Enlightium Prep*.
- Students enrolled in another school*.
*Students who are not currently enrolled with Enlightium participate in Friday Enrichment only and remain under the academic oversight of their parent/guardian or their school of record. Enlightium will provide progress information and award any applicable elective credit earned through the program.
Additional Requirements
Immunization Records
Because Friday Enrichment students attend classes in person, applicable state and local immunization or exemption requirements apply. If applicable, any required immunization records or exemption documentation must be provided before attendance to support Enlightium’s compliance and reporting requirements.
Dress Code
Because students meet in person at the local campus, the campus dress code applies during Friday Enrichment, Enlightium school events, and field trips. Enlightium shirts and hoodies may be purchased through the school store.
The dress code is intended to encourage modesty, Christian character, a Christ-centered testimony, and an appropriate distinction between masculine and feminine attire (Genesis 1:27; 2 Corinthians 5:14–20; 6:14–7:1; 1 Timothy 2:9–10; 1 Peter 2:12; 3:3–4).
Program Location
We host our Enrichment Programs from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm Pacific Time on most Fridays of the school year at the Enlightium Prep campus in Spokane, Washington. You can contact the location by emailing prep.office@enlightiumacademy.com.

Friday Enrichment Staff – Spokane, WA
Mr. Aaron Sylvia
Mr. Sylvia earned a Master’s degree in Elementary Teaching from Western Governors University. He is ACSI certified and earned his undergraduate degree in business from Whitworth University.
Prior to teaching, Mr. Sylvia was highly involved in ministry: having developed teams, trained leaders, and served as part of a team that planted a church in Spokane. He has led a mission trip, been an associate pastor, a youth pastor, and an innovative part of structuring different ministries and teams. He was called into ministry in 2005 and has pursued that calling ever since. In 2018 the Lord put on Mr. Sylvia’s heart to go into teaching.
Mrs. Irina Feofanova, LL.M.
Mrs. Irina is a native Russian speaker, born and raised in the oldest town in Russia, Velikiy Novgorod. She holds a Master's degree in Law from the University of Arkansas (2009) and has received two advanced professional training degrees in teaching Russian as a foreign language: one from Lomonosov Moscow State University (2014) and another from the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute (2018). Throughout her teaching career, Mrs. Feofanova has served as an adjunct instructor at the University of Arkansas and has taught Russian and English as a second language for over ten years
Community service, strong dedication to the family, and raising her own trilingual children led Mrs. Feofanova to change her career path from legal research to teaching Russian. Her play-based and hands-on teaching approach has primarily led her to work with school-age children.
Mr. Joe Lopez
Mr. Lopez has served as a World Languages and Arts teacher at Enlightium Preparatory Academy since 2025 and has happily volunteered as a parent for the Enrichment Program since 2023. He has a Master’s in Business Administration from Gonzaga University; an Associate’s of Applied Science in photography from Spokane Falls Community College; a Master’s of Arts and a Bachelor’s of Arts from the University of Arkansas — both involving journalism, political science, and Spanish literature; plus several certifications in digital marketing and web design.
His Spanish classes involve lots of music and poetry for cultural immersion, not to mention his fun ways of making grammar and vocabulary digestible for his students.
Mrs. Nikolayeva
Mrs. Nikolayeva is excited to see how God will use her for His glory at Enlightium Academy Enrichment Center. She earned her BA in Studio Arts from EWU in 2015 and a certificate in Photography from SFCC in 2012.
Mrs. Nikolayeva has found that the most enthusiastic and brave artists are often children! She believes that creativity is a character trait that God possesses, and through it, she learns more about her Creator. According to Ms. Nikolayeva, every artist has a style, and the patterns and order in God's world point us to one divine source.
Mr. Tower
Mr. Tower has served as a STEM teacher and IT support specialist at Enlightium Prep since 2025. He has earned a Master of Science degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of California San Diego; two Bachelor of Science degrees in both Chemical Sciences and Materials Science and Engineering, and a minor in Physics from the University of California Merced.
His makerspace classes use project-based learning to guide students through the core engineering processes of design, collaboration, creative problem-solving, and iterative development. He aims to teach students how to think critically, and through engaging with the engineering design process, to help them appreciate the Lord’s creativity as the ultimate Designer.
